Russophobia still very much alive in UK media!

Wow! What an absolute field day the UK media has been having today! I mean, the excitement and sheer glee was totally palpable, it's a wonder the editors didn't pass out with happiness!

I am of course referring to the 'breaking news' of this morning, that the captain of the Portuguese registered cargo ship which collided with an American tanker, is.......... Russian!

Not just one newspaper, mind you, I counted 8 before I got bored and gave up!

Let's take a look at them shall we? Starting with that bastion of truth and tolerance (ahem!), the Daily Mail!

Next, the Express...

And now, the Guardian...

Even the Metro gets in on the act!

Onwards with the Telegraph...

And next, the Independent...

And onto the Mirror...

And finally of course, the good old British Bullshit Corporation!

My initial (and ongoing) reaction is 'so what?!' He could just as easily be any damn nationality under the sun! But no, he has the misfortune of being Russian, therefore he's fair game for the UK media hyenas!

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with the captain being arrested. It does seem at this early stage of investigation that he and his ship were to blame.

What I DO have a major issue with is the way in which his nationality is being handled. Would the headlines have been so damning if the captain was of any other nation?! Can you imagine a headline 'Captain arrested was SPANISH!', or 'Captain to blame for collision was FRENCH!'?

Nope, me neither!

Just as the relationship between the United States and Russia is slowly beginning to thaw, we can rely on the utter Russophobia of the UK idiotic and mindless media to keep tensions high!

What absolute planks, the lot of them!
