Mapping Fun!

Mapping Fun!
As a Royal cartographer, you are ordered to explore and map an unknown land!

Arriving extremely late to the party with this game, as it's been around since 2019, and even had a sequel (Cartographers Heroes) released in 2021.

You and other players are cartographers (naturally!) in the service of Queen Gimnax.
The Queen has ordered you to venture out and map the hitherto unexplored territory of the Northern lands, as she wishes to claim it for the Kingdom of Nalos.
However, be wary of the Dragul, who wish to thwart your plans and contest your claims, so you must draw your lines carefully in an attempt to reduce their influence.

The game is played over a period of four seasons, during which players will draw areas on their map sheets in accordance with one or more of four available edict cards. The player with the highest number of reputation stars (i.e. points) at the end of winter is the winner!

The game has an excellent solo mode, in which your final score determines the title bestowed upon you Queen Gimnax.

I've played several solo games so far, all of which have been great fun! My final scores have varied wildly, as it depends on the cards you are lucky (or unlucky) enough to draw, along with the four edict cards that you draw during game prep.

In solo mode, you must deduct the combined total of the four edict cards from your end total, meaning more often than not you will end up with a minus figure as your final score!

Here are a couple of examples:

Example 1: This was a truly awful game, with 2 monster encounters, combined with unlucky drawing of the normal cards and also four high-value edict cards.
My final score was -11 (75 minus 86), meaning I ended up with the lowly title of Inept Assistant!!

Example 2: A much better game, in fact my highest score so far! I was astounded to finish the entire game without a single monster encounter, and the cards I drew seemed to be very much in my favour. This meant I ended up with a final score of 33 (115 minus 82), earning me the grand title of Legendary Cartographer!

Cartographers is really such a fun game to play solo, as even though it's "beat your own score", the actual games (and scores) can be so very different from each other, depending on the cards you draw, and how you place the areas on the map!

I highly recommend that you add this awesome game to your collection now!
